If someone was to ask me why I'm marrying Colin, the answer is simple... because I love him and can't imagine my life without him in it. He is strong, kind, compassionate, caring, supportive and considerate. I love spending time with him, and we enjoy the same things, so we've had some great adventures over the years, and a lot of fun! But he has also been at my side when I've had to face some of life's most difficult challenges. His unswerving loyalty and love has carried me through the darkest of times, and he has never stopped believing in me. He loves me for who I am, understands me, and knows me better than I know myself. Family means a lot to him too, and he is a great Dad to my children as well as his own. The fact that my family has now grown to include his children too is also a bonus! He is my sunshine, and makes me very happy, and I look forward to every day of the rest of our lives together. 'Grow old with me, the best is yet to come...'
Alison is so many things to me, I cherish her love, share her laughter, feel her pain and I am always amazed at her kindness. We spend so much time together it is difficult to remember what life was like before I met her, but I am very glad we did meet and from the very first time I saw her I knew there was something special, mainly her bottom. Our first date was having lunch together and I must admit to having a very pleasing look at her bottom when she walked off to visit the ladies rest room
Alison is fun, courageous, sexy, determined, loving, I will mention kind again because she is so very kind to everyone, clever, smart, witty, thoughtful, strong, very sexy (My intentions are totally honorable). She is my Best Friend and undoubtedly my Soul Mate, Alison makes me so happy and getting married will be the cherry on the top of a beautifully iced cake (Hhhmmm Cake) I love her so very much and did I mention Sexy?
My only regret is that my Mum and Dad are not around to share our happiness. My Mum did love Alison and my Dad would have loved Alison, we would have had great times together.
We actually met online! Both of us subscribed to Dating Direct - my first foray into the world of online dating and after exchanging a few emails and speaking on the phone a couple of times, we arranged to meet for lunch on Saturday 7th October 2006 at The Fox in Harpenden. We talked for hours and were the last to leave the pub, but we both knew how we felt was different, and something very special. After a chaste kiss on the cheek, Colin then sent me a text a few minutes later, saying he wished he’d kissed me on the lips…. So did I! We started seeing each other regularly a week or so after that.
Colin proposed on Valentine’s Day 2013 - on bended knee in the Piano Lounge at The Grand Hotel, on Brighton Pavillion. We’d had a fabulous meal, found somewhere to sit, and were enjoying the ambience and the music, but I wanted Colin to ask the piano player to serenade us with ‘The Shadow of Your Smile’ – one of my favourite Tony Bennet classics. His request accepted, Colin started to make his way back to me, when the pianist began to play another one of our favourites ‘Misty’ which Colin had been practicising on the banjo for weeks on end. Colin dropped to one knee, took out a ring box and asked me if I would do him the honour of becoming his wife… I burst into tears – having said yes first of course! – and everyone in the lounge applauded. The ring was exquisite – a perfect solitaire diamond set in white gold, which is exactly what I wanted.
